Prague Taxi Fare Rip Off

icked a cab driver from the area near the castle despite the warnings not to do so. Taxi from our hotel in Old Town to the castle had been 140 CZK (7 dollars or so). The much shorter trip to Kampa Island from the castle resulted in an 800 CZK fare! Hubby gave him 400 CZK and the cabbie began to scream and shake his fist at us. He was still screaming that he would call the police as we got out of the car. Husband told him we would be delighted to talk to the police. And, lo and behold, the police happened by during this heated exchange. He sped off when he saw them, but the experience was a bit unnerving to say the least! Expensive lesson learned!
